Courtney Leon is an associate attorney in the Litigation Group. Her practice encompasses a wide range of sophisticated legal matters, including banking and finance litigation, bankruptcy, corporate trust disputes, distressed debt, commercial lending, and securities services. She represents clients in high-stakes real estate litigation and transactions, navigating complex disputes involving property rights, financing arrangements, and development projects. In addition, Ms. Leon advises clients in government investigations, civil enforcement actions, and criminal prosecutions, and provides strategic counsel on corporate restructuring, creditors’ rights, and regulatory compliance. Her expertise extends to intricate tax matters, including investment structuring and resolving issues across state, federal, and international tax law. Furthermore, she advises on trusts and estates, focusing on fiduciary duty disputes, estate administration, and wealth transfer strategies.
Ms. Leon earned her Juris Doctor from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in 2023. She was an Associate Editor of the Cardozo Arts & Entertainment Law Journal, where she published several articles on emerging legal topics. Her Note, Mute Eloquence: A Gallery of Contracting Emojis, was published in Volume 41 and explored the legal implications of using emojis in contracts. During law school, she also earned her mediator certification through the Mediation Clinic and was actively involved in the Cardozo Entertainment Law Society. Additionally, she served as a teaching assistant in advanced legal writing, federal income tax, and trusts & estates courses. Ms. Leon graduated from the University of Miami in 2020 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. She double majored in Finance and International Business Management, and double minored in Business Law and Dance.
Ms. Leon is admitted to practice in New York and Florida, as well as before the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York. She is an active member of the American Bar Association, the Women’s Bar Association of the State of New York, and the New York City Bar Association. Her membership in the Entertainment, Arts & Sports Law and Real Property, Probate & Trust Law Sections of The Florida Bar further underscores her comprehensive legal expertise and commitment to professional growth.
